Back for its eighth consecutive year, Yacht Fest sets sails into San Diego's Shelter Island to present some of the world's finest boats, yachts, and super yachts available for purchase or charter. With a flourishing maritime community and arguably the nation's most agreeable climate, San Diego makes for a perfect backdrop to host this grand event.
Spanning the docks of San Diego's Shelter Island Marina and the halls of the Island Palms Hotel, Yacht Fest will feature more than 30 super yachts with price tags teetering at million. With more and more consumers than ever cutting checks for these high-priced sea vessels, you better believe they come fully equipped with the finest amenities money can buy. Just some of the luxuries within these "mini-mansions" include helicopters, hot tubs, workout rooms and wine cellars. Only the most prestigious of luxury yacht builders will be in attendance to showcase their vessels; participating manufacturers range from Christensen and Ocean Alexander to Sunseeker and Northstar Yachts. Also on site will be a crew of sales and charter brokers ready to answer questions pertaining to the sea cruising lifestyle. Dubbed as one of the West Coast's premier yacht shows, Yacht Fest, presented by the San Diego Marine Exchange, is expecting record-breaking attendance.
Highlights of the four-day event entail everything from workshops and seminars to fundraisers and fashion shows. Attendees can take advantage of free seminars where they can talk candidly with captains, crewmembers, engineers, stewards and chefs about their experiences aboard a luxury yacht. On Sunday from 9 to 11 a.m. be sure to attend "Your Career in Yachting," a seminar covering the many facets of today's yachting industry.
Benefiting the San Diego Armed Services YMCA, the "All Decked Out" fashion show will showcase the finest yachting apparel. H, the government bonds are the safest and most easily converted security.Nearly all of the others are likely to have problems as collateral as the resale value may vary or the item may spoil or be depleted. Even the gold will fluctuate in price and be used as part of the jewelers manufacturing process.

I know nothing about boats but have always been curious about how far large "luxury yachts" go.

also how fast is a knot?-
ANSWER:
It's not the optimal size to go "asfar as possible" ...even on lowest power you'll need very muchto push it.But that's not the idea behind a boat like this...you just go the fuel barge and say "fill it up" (20.000gallons)
My boat has 2 6 Cyl Diesels and on lowest power, with one engine going, it consumes 16 litres an hour, Tanks empty in about 50 hours.
Sailing is the way to go far on low cost.

What the deuce can I name my new steam yacht?
I want a name that gets across the sheer size and invulnerability of the vessel.It's got 4 funnels, 3 engines, 24 double boilers and 5 single,it's 900 feet long and 90 feet wide, top speed 23.5 knots, it's got 20 lifeboats and it can carry over 2,500 passengers in the lap of luxury, in rooms reminscent of Adams.
God himself could not sink it, according to the builders.
The Duchess is absolutely convinced we should call it 'Lulubelle' after her late mother for some reason...-

Let's go with something new shall we see what happened to this yacht's sisters. Majestic/Leviathan. PS the builders didn't say that the owner did.
